$16.00Nobody really sounds quite like Sherard Ingram (aka Urban Tribe). He is a talent that has moved through various shapes and forms in the Detroit underground with a constant thread of hi-tek electro soul tying all his material together.
Urban Tribe is one of the second wave artists from Detroit who is known for his collaborations with Carl Craig, Anthony Shakir and Moodymann. Ingram has been at the forefront of Detroit’s musical history – with his seminal ‘Covert Action’ on Retroactive regularly pulled up as a Motor City classic. Throughout his recording career Urban Tribe has managed to remain one of the most uncompromising and mysterious producers. Ingram has consistently avoided the mainstream to create a musical world of his own.
In recent years he has been best known for his spinning moniker DJ Stingray, representing his brand of hi-speed and frantic electro in a ski-mask. Reputedly the first Detroit DJ to play electro trax at 45 instead of 33 to club crowds, his skills as DJ Stingray are held in high regard within the 313 district and beyond for creating a unique hyperactive funk.
“Loyal Opposition” is a representation of forward thinking music from Urban Tribe and successfully retains all the qualities he is best known for. This release is complete with four selections of material that are his strongest to date.

First noticed across the primitive music sharing plateaus of a decade past, the Oliverwho Factory quickly gained notoriety overseas with a Glasgow based distribution, and a keen sense of product importance, releasing rich, mood-driven tracks on vinyl, inspired by and resonating the roots of rock, pop, jazz, and R&B. Earth near-silently stumbles with the distinct yet mysterious, funk laden blend of house and techno that Oliverwho and Shonie C. so naturally provide. Like stepping into dreamscapes of unknown desire, the obscure flavor of OWF’s tunes keeps unconventional beauty and otherworldly adventure at the forefront of this duo’s Detroit-based soundboard.
With a scant 10 releases under their belt since they premiered on their own Madd Chaise Inc imprint in 2003, they have created a name for themselves that is rarely heard but when it is, it’s uttered in a reverent tone. Their sound is one that doesn’t fit easily into a box; its raw and electrifying blend of soulful house and jackin’ techno. The Oliverwho Factory’s disposition has been cautious and a bit resistant with any major spotlight. Whatever the reason, it’s only a matter of time before the world realizes what they’ve been missing. After sticking to small quantities of vinyl through the years they’ve made each release sought after and instant gems.
